Connecting resistor in plant monitoring project

In plant monitoring project why do we connect 10k resistor in A0 and ground not in 3.3v and ground?

In Plant Monitoring Project, we need to measure Intensity of Light. To do so, we must use Analog Pin on Bolt Module. If we connect resistor to 3.3V instead of A0 Pin, we won’t be able to measure the intensity of light because it is a digital Pin and will only take input in the form of Binary Numbers (1 and 0). So in order to measure the Intensity of light, we must use an Analog Pin i.e. A0 and hence we can record our readings.
