I upgraded my linux firm to latest version in vmware workstation. The whole process happened and when i upgraded again to check whether all the softwares are installed, it is showing me that 4 of the softwares are not upgraded. Also, it is not upgrading the software after i press upgrade command.
Here is the screenshot of my workstation.
Kindly help. It would be appreciated.
use the sudo apt-get upgrade to update all the files to the latest version.
also check your network connection.
And I don’t think there is any problem 0 files being upgrade atleast did not affect mine…
Also if you’re using VMWare like me then make sure VMWare 12 network preferences has been set to bridged, if you’re on VMWare 15 you don’t need to change any preferences.
You may try either of the 3 options to upgrade the ‘kept-back’ packages
- sudo apt-get --with-new-pkgs upgrade
- sudo apt-get install (list_of_packages_kept_back)
In your case: sudo apt-get install linux-generic linux-headers-generic …
- sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Be wary, the last option may just remove those packages, if it fails to upgrade them.
@choudharyaakash066 It should not be an issue. You can continue using the VM normally.
Thank you all for replying. But, as @shoeb.ahmed sir said, I am not facing any issue.
Incase, if I face any further issue in future, I will refer to your suggestions @pankajkumar.p and @SwadeshPatra.
Thanks once again.
