Updating packages on ubuntu

sudo apt-get -y update .why have we written -y in this?what does it stand for?

Hi @jain.reechika,
In the command “sudo apt-get -y update”, -y says yes automatically to the prompts i.e., it runs the prompt non interactively.

You can see the details of a command in linux by typing man followed by the command.
Ex: Typing “man apt-get” in the prompt and scrolling down a bit you get this.
